L1 Complex Operations

Certification Pathway

You must already meet Advanced Operations knowledge requirements and hold the Advanced certificate as a prerequisite. Be comfortable with fundamental VLOS operations and safety procedures. Have access to a suitable RPAS that will be used for your complex operations pathway (we can advise on suitability and RPAS Safety Assurance considerations)

Complete 20+ Hours Ground School

In-person training delivered by SkyTech drone flight school following Transport Canada knowledge requirements in TP 15530.

Pass Online Level 1 Complex Exam

  • Format: 50 multiple-choice questions
  • Time: 90 minutes
  • Passing Score: 80%

Pass Flight Review

In-person assessment with a Transport Canada-sanctioned Flight Reviewer at SkyTech Drone Flight School.

Receive Your Certificate

We submit your results via the Drone Management Portal and Transport Canada issues your Level 1 Complex Operations certificate.
